In Uganda, gorilla trekking takes place in the misty forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Rwanda offers the experience in Volcanoes National Park, home to the famous Virunga mountain gorillas. Each destination has its own character, scenery and trekking experience.

The trek itself can be anything from a relatively short walk to several hours through dense forest and steep terrain, depending on where the gorilla family is located that day. But when you finally come face to face with a gorilla family, the effort seems worthwhile. Watching them feed, play, groom each other or simply move through the forest is a moment that stays with you long after the trek is over.
